San Giamignano – This country side is one of the first images of Tuscany that enters ones mind with mere mention of this region. San Giamignano is the crowning jewel, identifiable as the City of Beautiful Towers: Rich in history, art and culture surrounded by the splendid Tuscan countryside. The towers were a status symbol of successful families, competing for architectural prominence. Many of the towers were destroyed during the Second World War, today only seventeen remain. |
